Kelley Estate Kitchen Planning Photos
BELOW: Here is pictured a photo out of the Tru-Wood cabinet catalogue. Notice that the room color is very similar to the paint color in the existing room.
BELOW: The photos below show the outline of the cabinetry planned on the west wall of the room. This group of cabinets includes the refridgerator and
range. Ceilings, doors, and windows are so tall throughout the house that they do present some challenges in planning the height of the cabinets. Notice that there is plenty of room to enter the room from the rear entry.
There may be an additional foot that we could add to the cabinetry here to pick up more storage space.
DRAWING REVISED FEBRUARY 2011
NOTE: Plan below now features a 36" wide refridgerator and retains the 36" wide range.

BELOW: The next few photos show the layout for the cabinetry on the east wall of the planned kitchen. Again, I started the layout about two feet
from the north wall. The layout appears to work; however, note that the cabinets would interfere with the set of french doors if you wanted to open them
all the way. Due space constraints on this wall, I would recommend staying with the existing layout here. We'll have to just install a small door bump to
keep the door from banging into the countertop or cabinetry.
DRAWING REVISED FEBRUARY 2011
NOTE: Plan now includes trash compactor to right of the sink. Plan also includes room above sink for decorative light fixture
or decorative back splash. Also shows shallow shelf for decorative storage. Opens up area above sink.

BELOW: In the space I refer to as the Butler's Pantry, There are two opportunities for some added cabinetry. On the
south wall of the Pantry we already have plumbing in place. This might work well as a wet bar or utility sink. We have
room for cabinetry 48" wide. I assume the cabinetry would be free standing on this side because we don't want the
cabinets to interfere with the electrical panel. We would use bathroom vanity cabinets that are closer to 20" deep instead
of kitchen cabinetry which is typically 24" deep. We have a countertop with upper cabinets.
BELOW: On the opposite wall in the Pantry, we have room for additional storage cabinetry. On this wall, I propose
to come up with some full height pantry storage cabinets. It would likely be two large 24" pantry cabinets put together.
We would relocate the washer and dryer hookups to the mud room. I will strive to use 20" deep bath cabinets to
maximize walking room in the space.

REVISED DRAWINGS - FEBRUARY 2010

BELOW: In the room that I am now calling the mud room, I am proposing one area to be a closet with standard frame
walls and one set of interior french doors. Build basic wood painted shelving on the inside for general storage, including
one hanging rod section for coats, etc.

BELOW: On the south wall of the Mud Room, I would propose to keep this wall open. The room benefits from the
natural light that comes through this small south facing window. I might plan to do a pair of undercounter, front
loading washer / dryer here. There is room for some basic shelving / cabinetry at either side of the washer / dryer.
Plumbing connections should be easy from here, but we will have to make penetrations through the old exterior walls.
If kept, the window would benefit from being an actual window. It is now just a piece of glass trimed in place.
